ABOUT SANDY HALL

Victoria born and raised, I joined the CFJC news team in 1980 as a radio and television news reporter. I graduated second in my class at BCIT\'s Broadcast Journalism program. During 3 decades in journalism I helped bring numerous provincial and national broadcast journalism awards to Kamloops. In I was promoted to Assistant News Director and Assignment Editor. I am a supporter of the Radio and Television News Directors Association of BC, and RTDNA Canada. I have twice served as organization\'s Television Director for BC, and more recently as the Radio Director for BC. As well I served 4 years on the National Editorial Board for the Canadian Press. I am a proud recipient of a Jack Webster Foundation Fellowship which allowed me to attend the Poynter Institute in Florida in 2009 to attend the Leadership Academy. I believe in being active in my community, and over the years chaired, served as a director, volunteered, and MC\'d, for many organizations and events like Kamloops Crimestoppers, SPCA, Aids Society of Kamloops, D.A.R.E, RCMP Mountie Stomp (Bruce Denniston Bone Marrow fund raiser), and helped organize and MC a regional conference on substance abuse for the Province Newspaper. Besides running the newsroom, my duties included fill-in hosting, anchoring, and reporting for TV and radio. In March 2014 I made a personal decision to leave Kamloops and return to my hometown of Victoria, BC. I now work at CFAX 1070 anchoring, reporting, and occasionally producing talk shows. I love working as part of a professional team that values, respects, and learns from one another.
