About Sandra Negrón
I am a Senior Policy Counsel with 15+ years of experience spanning the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Admitted to the practice of law in D.C, Florida, and Puerto Rico, I bring an intersectional lens to advancing gender and reproductive justice, particularly in employment contexts that impact women and LGBTQ+ individuals. Currently, I serve as Senior Counsel to the Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources, where I assist the Secretary with the development of public policy that promotes job creation and increases labor force participation, driving diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, while advising employers and employees of their rights and responsibilities. Previously, as Labor Policy Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives, I provided legal advice and technical assistance for the enactment of workforce protection legislation, including laws advancing gender rights in the workplace. At Ayuda, I advocated for immigrant survivors of domestic and sexual violence by strengthening legal access and expanding protective state policies. My private-sector work at McConnell Valdés, LLC focused on employment litigation and ERISA compliance for welfare and pension benefit plans, where I led the Welfare Benefits and ERISA Litigation Practice Area.
