Social Enterprise Futures – empowering young people, changing lives - The Social Enterprise Academy has been delivering its Social Enterprise in Schools Programme since 2007. Over 400 schools and teachers have participated so far. Schools across Scotland are setting up and running vibrant, creative and financially sustainable social enterprises and addressing social issues in communities at home and abroad. The Futures Programme goes beyond schools and covers our work with Schools, Colleges & Universities, and young people 16-24 in school and beyond. It focuses on the future, the next generation, but also neatly embodies our vision that social enterprise is the future.It embeds our current ‘Social Enterprise in Schools’ Programme delivered to young people 3 to 18 years old, as a targeted sub-brand and embraces our new programmes – Wide Horizons and Growth through Leadership. Futures empowers young people of all ages by preparing them to take responsibility for their own learning and their own futures and, in doing so, allows them to change their lives and those of others at home and abroad.It’s my role to lead the development and growth of the Social Enterprise Futures Programme into a financially sustainable initiative by building on current activity and developing new markets and to embody the vision and values of the Social Enterprise Academy as a first point of contact for stakeholders from all sectors
