Experience
First in Florida Regional Director Past State Operating Committee Chairman
Jul 2011 — Present · South Florida, US
Work collaboratively with the FIRST staff in the development, direction, growth, and support of the FIRST programs at the local and regional level. Through different sources, including state legislation, I have successfully secured funds for the past 9 years to help develop both the FRC teams and the events that happen in our region. • Growth of FRC teams has been over 50% state wide, and last year we were the third state in terms of team growth in the entire USA.• In charge of the State Operating Committee for FIRST in Florida, coordinate the different FIRST programs and Program Delivery Partners to ensure a constant communication flow between stakeholders. • Developed the advocacy strategy for FIRST in Florida which so far has received over 1.5 million dollars in state funding.• Direct the largest Robotics competition in South Florida, and one of the largest in the United States. Hosted – for the past 9 years – over 2,500 students for 4 consecutive days. Raise funds, negotiate location, event coordination and key production elements, creation of marketing materials, as well as help recruiting 150+ volunteers needed to run the event, which includes a Planning Committee.• Work with people from different sectors and walks of lives to advance STEM agenda in Florida: CEOS, industry leaders, non-government and government agencies, local, state, and federal politicians, teachers, students, administrators and superintendents, parents and concerned citizens. Uncanny ability to speak with different people who have different motives and unify them under a single cause.• Strategized and developed the State website architecture, infrastructure, and development. Responsible for communication through social media channels.
