ABOUT SANDIPAN SARANGA
I am a postgraduate in Political Science from Delhi University, currently serving as a rural development fellow under the SBI Youth for India Fellowship in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. My work is situated at the crossroads of grassroots development, academic research, and cultural inquiry—drawing from field-based experiences and critical political thought. Working and living alongside the Bhil community in western Rajasthan, I engage closely with issues of informal labour, indigenous knowledge systems, rural livelihoods, and intergenerational heritage. My current project aims to dismantle the intergenerational livelihood traps in the community. My academic interests have translated into several national and international seminar presentations, where I have explored themes such as oral histories, artisanal traditions, neoliberal precarity, and cultural identity. Trained in qualitative research, equipped with field experience, and beginners level knowledge of SPSS, I enjoy exploring how policy and theory translate into lived realities. I’m especially interested in projects that require a critical yet grounded perspective—whether in research, documentation, community engagement, or policy analysis. I am always keen to collaborate across disciplines and sectors, especially in space where knowledge creation and social impact go hand in hand.
