ABOUT SANDER L. HITZIG
Sander L. Hitzig (PhD) is the Program Research Director and a Senior Scientist at St. John\'s Rehab Research Program (Sunnybrook Research Institute; Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre) and an Associate Professor, Affiliated Scientist in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and in the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hitzig holds the John C. and Sally Horsfall Eaton Chair in Rehabilitation Research.His research examines the consequences of aging with a disability, which includes assessing the impact of primary impairments (e.g, paralysis) and secondary health conditions on quality of life. As well, he works to identify factors that promote health post-disability to foster well-being in the community. Sander\'s current projects include evaluating the role of social networks on health and quality of life outcomes following disability, developing and validating patient-reported outcomes, and evaluating novel technologies and clinical services designed to enhance community living following rehabilitation.
