About Sandeep Ambekar
Sandeep Ambekar has an overall 23 years of IT experience in Building products in the areas of Enterprise Server, OS, Firmware, Storage, Hybrid Cloud & Security.Key Experience in WW Release Management, Development Manager - delivering products to IBM enterprise customers. Delivering Value, Quality & operating with high Integrity! Sandeep started his IT journey as a System Engineer in HP labs and gained skills in the areas of product development and testing experience with HP Servers (HP Superdome, HP NonStop), developed multi-pathing Linux SCSI device drivers for HP EVA and HP XP, File System development for HP NonStop, Storage virtualization FW (HP EVA, EMC VMAX). Sandeep completed over 12 years in the IBM Z India team, He joined IBM in 2011, in the Z Firmware development team as an architect in I/O Team developing STV/FCP Firmware, IO card diagnostics, IBM Tape emulation for Qlogic based 16S FICON express IO adapter. Later, he moved into an FLM role and led a talented team of IBM Z Engineers & contributed to multiple Z projects which include - Z Systems FW dev (FICON/FCP, OSA (3270/3215), zPDT Storage support, i390 FW, Storage Mgmt transformation in DPM, Web Tools for project planning/tracking, IBM Z Linux KVM, zOpen Stack). In 2018, Sandeep moved into Z as a Service org, He was given an opportunity to form a new ZaaS team in India which grew from 2 members to 40 members in 3 years, As a WW release & development manager, he led a strong team working on IBM Cloud Private (ICP), Cloudpak on Z, IBM Hyper Protect Virtual Serv, Global SRE L2/L3 support. He took up the WW responsibilities for IBM HPVS and brought in major transformation around Test Automation, Build pipeline, PSIRT Tool Automation, new HPVS CLI transformation for better UX, Adopted Agile, Design Thinking development principles and delivered Quarterly Continuous delivery release for ICP and HPVS along with a key focus on Quality & Security (following Security and Privacy by Design). Sandeep has also taken India lab initiatives and led a few initiatives which include Talent Spark, Symposium conference, Social Eminence, Technical Vitality, z Leadership forum & Call for Code & collaboration across teams in ISDL.Sandeep has been recognized with Major OTAA, IBM Systems Impact award, IBM Agile Excellence Award, ISDL Best Manager Award & SDS Team excellence award for his contributions towards various projects on Z Systems. Sandeep has an Executive MBA degree from IIM Calcutta & Bachelor (B.E) in Computer Science Engineering from Kuvempu University.
