Seasoned non-profit leader with over 10 years of executive leadership experience. Over 15 years of experience in advocacy and guiding national and global programs. Accomplished fundraiser with experience garnering funds from large foundations, governments, and high net-worth individuals. Committed to advancing feminist, inclusive and equitable ways of working in organizations, coalitions and partnerships. Broad domestic and international government relations experience with proven track record securing significant political and financial wins within challenging political contexts. Key Accomplishments: Grew the staff size of a non-profit from 2 to 25 and its budget from $300k to $4.4M, over nearly 10 years as its leader. Conceived, initiated, and co-led the complex process of amalgamating three national sexual and reproductive rights organizations. Raised funds from institutional donors that do not typically fund Canadian organizations, including: Governments of the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark, Ford Foundation, Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, the UN, and Gates Foundation. Advocated extensively over 15 years to strengthen Canada’s foreign and development policies in relation to sexual and reproductive rights and gender equality, actively contributing to a ground-breaking 2019 investment of $1.4B for global women’s health and rights from the Government of Canada. Worked successfully to secure universal cost coverage of medication abortion across Canada. Served as a Member of the UN High-Level Task Force for the ICPD, a global working group comprised of eminent leaders committed to galvanizing political support for gender equality in the elaboration of the UN SDGs. Over 15 years, worked to build and engaged extensively as part of the Sexual Rights Initiative – a cross-movement, global coalition engaging in global advocacy and supporting human rights defenders in holding their governments accountable. Engaged prolifically in work with diplomats, including conducting more than 20 workshops for diplomats and engaging in advocacy with diplomats in more than 30 sessions of various intergovernmental bodies. Developed and conducted more than 25 workshops for human rights defenders in Canada and globally.
