Creating new methodology to enable GaN products to be more robust and more compact than their silicon counterparts. For instance, our customers were concerned that GaN would not be robust enough to handle power line surges; I created a new surge test that showed GaN is better than Si, since GaN can switch through surges. I also developed a simple way to determine the switching lifetime of a GaN FET and created the switching SOA curve for the datasheet. This enables customers to shrink TI GaN based products without compromising on reliability.
