ABOUT SANDALIA GENUS

Researcher with extensive experience across three continents. Expertise in handling all stages of research administration, from proposal to knowledge translation and designing and conducting qualitative, mixed-methods, and ethnographic studies. Skilled at producing engaging narratives from research findings for diverse audiences. Breadth of research experience has resulted in a deep understanding of cultural diversity and the need for contextual understanding. Selected research projects to date: • Led the evaluation of a clinical and educational program that aimed to improve care for patients with HIV and mental illness. • Managed and evaluated an educational program (ECHO in HIV Psychiatry) for community health workers, with the aim of creating partnerships between hospital and community workers. • Explored the development of a malaria vaccine in Tanzania and Europe through participant observation at a vaccine clinical trial site and interviews with vaccine scientists, clinical trial employees and malaria specialists. • Examined the role of health policy, advertisements and doctors in people\'s decision to get a HPV vaccine in Canada. I have designed and taught university courses about public health, qualitative research, political economy and social anthropology. I have presented my research at conferences in Europe and North America and my writing has been published in academic journals. I love plants and gardening, cycling, reading science fiction and cooking.
