WORK HISTORY
Sand Dune and Shingle Network @Liverpool Hope University
We wish to build on the results of networking, highlight projects and publications and develop opportunities for study tours, workshops and cooperation. The network also operates as part of a developing European network and works closely with the Coastal and Marine Union (EUCC).The network currently includes many of the following groups: site managers, national policy makers, students and researchers, biodiversity officers, ecologists, geomorphologists and hydrologists. We would also like to include members from different backgrounds - coastal engineers, golf course managers, tourism interests, forestry interests, military sites, landscape historians etc. Our field meetings will always involve a cross-section of interests to encourage lively debate. The network operates by sharing information across different sectors and disciplines. The common interest is the natural resource and a desire to find sustainable solutions to conservation issues. We encourage members to be active and to participate in discussions and field meetings but we also welcome passive members interested mainly in the newsletter and on-line resources. We have over 290 full members and distribute the newsletter to about 540 contacts in the UK and worldwide.
