ABOUT SAMUEL ROWLANDS
My work focuses on governance, organisational change, and public funding in complex, high-accountability environments.I lead transformation work, including the development of digital and operational programmes to improve how we work and support longer-term resilience. My role brings together strategy and delivery, from shaping governance structures and decision-making approaches through to supporting organisational response and continuity during periods of significant operational challenge.I have also worked within major public funding programmes, including senior responsibility within the Culture Recovery Fund (£800m+), overseeing assessment, monitoring, and programme closure across a high-volume, high-accountability environment.Alongside this, I run a freelance practice delivering the Museum Accreditation Scheme in Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government, working with a significant proportion of the accredited sector. This includes leading a small associate team to support delivery, enabling a flexible approach across a diverse group of organisations. The work involves engaging directly with organisations of very different scales and structures, supporting them through the accreditation process in a way that reflects their context and capacity.I bring over 18 years’ experience in museum accreditation and standards, including leading the UK Museum Accreditation Scheme and assessing several hundred organisations across a wide range of governance models. My work centres on governance, organisational risk, and applying standards in ways that are realistic and proportionate. I draw on formal programme and portfolio management training (including MoP and PRINCE2), alongside practical experience working across both structured and more iterative delivery approaches-Rwy’n gweithio’n rheolaidd drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg ac yn gwerthfawrogi’r cyfle i gefnogi amgueddfeydd ledled Cymru.
