About Samuel R. Cook
I am a simple, easy going, joyful individual with a large variety of work experiences and personal interests. Currently, I am preparing on starting a new design engineering position at Ulteig on August 25th. I worked for UT-Battelle at Oak Ridge National Lab as a Data Center Reliability Engineer in the Computational Facilities Complex.Formerly working for Mesa Associates Inc. as a power distribution substation engineer. Providing engineering services to Louisville Gas and Electric, Kentucky Utilities, and American Electric Power in the power delivery substations sector. At Mesa I learned a completely new engineering discipline and designed new building substations and retrofits to existing substations. It was a challenge going from Mechanical engineering to a subset of electrical engineering, that was also fun and successful. Before Mesa, I worked as a construction project manager with Eskola LLC Commercial Roofing and Waterproofing. I started out as a part time estimator as I worked on finishing my mechanical engineering degree at UTK. Upon graduation, eskola approached me about working full time as a project manager. My experiences in the commercial roofing industry gave me the opportunity to estimate construction costs and to manage large scale multi-million dollar commercial roofing projects. Managing these projects to meet budgets, deadlines, customer expectations, risk, and change. As a student, I had a huge opportunity to work for Bayer as the first of 2 co-op students at their Cleveland TN plant. That plant is now owned by Formulated Solutions. My experiences in the consumer care industry exposed me to a vast field of requirements for companies in the industry. Including but not limited to federal product regulation for consumer products, new product validation, equipment installation, troubleshooting manufacturing errors, root cause analysis, process improvement, team leadership, workplace safety, 5S, six sigma, lean manufacturing, and cross departmental planning and scheduling. I am passionate about leadership, communication, engineering design, innovation, materials research, testing, new product development, product optimization, and process optimization. Driving me to strive for continuous self-improvement and to seek new opportunities that will allow me to apply my experiences and education.
