ABOUT SAMUEL MULANGU

I am a South African-Congolese student at the University of British Columbia with a strong interest in business, finance, and leadership. I am currently majoring in Psychology while completing Commerce coursework through the UBC Sauder School of Business, with the goal of transferring into the UBC Sauder Bachelor of Commerce program.My academic journey began at Columbia College, where I built a solid foundation in business and commerce before continuing my studies at UBC. Combining psychology with business has strengthened my understanding of decision-making, consumer behaviour, and the human dynamics that influence financial and organizational outcomes.Alongside my academic experience, I am currently working as a Risk Associate at Aritzia, where I contribute to store operations with a focus on risk management, loss prevention, and operational efficiency. My role involves identifying and addressing potential risks that may impact the business, including minimizing financial losses, supporting inventory control, and ensuring strong operational compliance. Through this experience, I am gaining valuable insight into how effective risk management and internal systems directly drive performance, profitability, and accountability within a high-performing retail environment.Beyond academics, I have gained hands-on experience in sales, operations, and leadership through roles in retail and a family-owned transportation business, strengthening my ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and take ownership of results.
