ABOUT SAMUEL GONAHASA
I am a PhD fellow at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine with a background in Medicine and graduate training in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I have extensive experience conducting malaria research and program evaluations in Uganda. I currently work as an Investigator leading several trials at the Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC), based in Kampala and providing oversight for field work across several sites in Uganda in collaboration with partner institutions, including the Ugandan Ministry of Health, Makerere University, the University of California San Francisco (USCF), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and the University of Maryland. I focus my research on malaria epidemiology, impact evaluations of malaria control interventions, and on translational initiatives to aid data-driven decision-making at all levels. My ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between researchers, policy makers and health program implementors by combining excellent research with appropriate data use and stakeholder engagement to drive evidence-based action.
