ABOUT SAMUEL CERRA

I consider myself a Performer, Instructor, Composer, Recording Artist, and a Percussionist specializing in Mallet Instruments. Primarily trained in Classical and Contemporary music, I am now also specializing in Jazz performance. If I have to share a peculiarity about my playing and my style it would be a \"pianistic way of playing the vibraphone\". The eclecticism of my style - as someone defined it - is the result of personal research mostly based on jazz pianists combined with symmetric elements such as Messiaen and Slonimsky together with classical training. I like to use music in a conceptual way of describing stories and feelings through notes and harmony creating sparks in the audience\'s heart. I designed different Jazz Improvisation Courses and I love sharing what I have learned so far in the fields of- Jazz Harmony - Jazz Improvisation, with various approaches - Ear Training - Percussion - Specific Techniques on Vibraphone such as Chord Melody, Comping, Extended Techniques, Dampening, etc. I also love reading books about philosophy and theology worldwide to better understand how similar people on our planet can be.
