About Samuel Bermke

I am a Lead Data Scientist at State Farm in the P&C Actuarial and Underwriting Modeling department. In my role, I provide skilled actuarial, data, and technology expertise in the development and maintenance of personal auto insurance rating predictive models. I am a Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries State Farm, I have prior experience in a Technology unit, where I provided actuarial expertise in the development of various computer applications that enhance the actuarial functions, including ratemaking and rating plan implementation. Prior to that, I was in the Personal Auto Pricing unit, where I performed key rate revisions, performed independent and ad-hoc analyses, and served as a primary actuarial point of contact for personal auto in several states.In 2019, I graduated from Drake University, graduating summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA with a Bachelor\'s of Science in Business Administration. I majored in Data Analytics and Actuarial Science and earned minors in Computer Science and Mathematics. As a graduating senior, I earned the Outstanding Data Analytics Student Award, selected by the Faculty in College of Business and Public Administration. While at Drake, I also served in various leadership roles in the Alpha Kappa Psi professional fraternity and was a Resident Assistant for two years. I also was an intern at EMC Insurance Companies for two years, spending one year in each of the Predictive Modeling and Actuarial Business Intelligence units.I am eager every day to use my leadership, communication, and analytical skills to add value to State Farm and ultimately, its policyholders.
