I believe patent quality is a massive problem for innovation and a huge risk for society. Our ability to innovate and produce information has far outpaced our ability to process and make sense of it. If we don\'t solve that, the patent system stops fueling innovation and instead throttles it. We\'ve been in that world for a long time now and I\'ve dedicated my career to building the technology needed to tilt the scales back in favor of progress.Most patent work is wasteful. Deciding which inventions to file and which patents to keep is straightforward enough one case at a time but at scale? Nearly impossible. And despite a lot of progress making patent workflows more efficient, there\'s still a fundamental gap: people don\'t have reliable, shared intelligence to make good decisions. How do you keep up with pressure to innovate faster when basic answers to patent questions take weeks or months? When companies can\'t even confidently answer what do we have and are we protected?I\'ve been deeply bothered by this problem since 2010. I started Amplified in 2017 to try to solve it. The thesis is actually simple. AI is going to become increasingly powerful but curating data and finding the right pieces of context will be hard. So we\'ve been building custom technology to solve that, starting with custom embeddings for the entire global corpus of patent documents and the infrastructure to keep that updated in real-time.We used that foundational tech to build search and analysis tools that help R&D teams get to better prior art faster and give IP teams real leverage to be strategic partners to the business.
