I lead government outreach and advocacy efforts for Merck Life Science across South Asia including India. The role entails being as a trusted partner to all key external stakeholders on matters related to R&D and innovation, drug and health security, policymaking on academia – industry collaborations, Ease of Doing Business, quality manufacturing in India with EU guidelines and global compliance, addressing measures on counterfeit drugs, safeguarding Intellectual Property of products & services, and ethical use of affordable medical and health solutions. At Merck, I’m passionate to lead our vision and mission (as One Merck) to offer its globally renowned and widely acknowledged innovative products, services and digital solutions – and curiously engage with Governments (state, federal and regional), business associations and embassies focusing on policy advocacy and sustainable collaborations which can impact life and health with science.With almost two decades of professional experience, I am an extreme optimist and possess a robust understanding of regulatory policies, compliance, & partnerships and is passionate about reputation and corporate positioning through public policy, government affairs and CSR for sustainable development. Prior to joining Merck Life Science, I was associated with multiple organizations such as B.Braun Group, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), where I contributed with breakthrough strategies in multiple projects. I spent one and half decade as an influencer on promoting & managing Govt. of India’s vision of innovation-led industrial R&D, leading to product commercialization through GITA. Funding support was extended to industry-led R&D projects for innovative product development in multiple sectors from Healthcare, ICT, Defence, CleanTech, AgriTech etc. As a founder member of GITA and second in command, I was responsible to actively engage, negotiate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders from India and International - in collaboration with Government, Industry, Academia and Business Associations as partners from Canada, Italy, Israel, Finland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, South Korea and ASEAN. I am widely regarded and known as a Sherpa of promoting and managing industrial R&D and innovation in India. A technology, R&D & Innovation (R&D&I) management savvy person, I live in New Delhi with my wife and two daughters.
