Samrat is a second-year student at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, in its PGPM course, with an inclination towards Finance. He completed his Bachelor in Technology (B. Tech) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, in 2018, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He has worked at J.P. Morgan for three years in AWM (Tech) and as an Equity Derivatives Analyst with Global Markets Division (GMD)- North America region. Samrat did his Summer Internship(IIMB) at Goldman Sachs in its Global Market - Hong Kong division, working on the following- Long & short trading strategy on Australian mining firms based on eight quarters commodity outlook- Trade idea on 1 Year INR OIS based on carry and roll down analysis of G-Sec of 3 Asian economies along with seasonality analysis- Holding company discount for an investment company with heavy investment in China and presented investment thesis on the same- Pre-market open research reports, and quarterly earnings conference notes, helped sales time on client presentations and three other trade ideas.His interests are macroeconomics, single stocks, derivatives and valuation, and he also has CFA Level 1 and FRM Part 1. He is currently looking for full-time opportunities post his MBA in similar roles in India, Hong Kong/ Singapore or London.
