About Sammy Olesen

I am a Senior at Elon University in North Carolina and am from Oyster Bay, New York. I am majoring in mechanical engineering and am pursuing a minor in math and business administration. I have worked on multiple engineering design projects such as building an underwater remotely operated vehicle, using MATLAB skills to create a virtual blackjack game, used an Arduino board to create an adjustable solar panel model, and helped Governor Morehead School with creating lunch trays for visually impaired students. I have also designed a hydrodynamic water channel to study fluid dynamics with a team of four as well as used SolidWorks, a lathe, mill, water jet, and CNC machine to design and build a A1010 steel hammer Last summer I interned as an M/E/P Engineer with Consigli Construction in there New York City Office. This summer I am interning at AMA Group as a mechanical engineer intern in there New York Office. On the weekends, I lifeguard with the Town of Oyster Bay, at their public beaches. I am looking for a full time job when I graduate in cities such as New York, Boston, and Charlotte, as an engineer to learn and experience more within my field.

   My team and I designed and built a hydrodynamic water channel to study fluid mechanics at Elon University. We were given a $100 budget and later presented our findings at Elon\'s Student Union Research Forum (SURF) at the end of the year.
