Founded in June 2024, NSDS has since amassed over 350 registered members, raised over through Purdue grants and industry sponsorships, and organized massive professional development events serving thousands of students. These events include career fairs with 40+ defense employers and 500+ students in attendance, large research symposiums with poster presentations from a wide variety of defense initiatives, and speaker series featuring two-star generals, defense-prime executives, and startup CEOs. NSDS serves as the student arm of Purdue’s defense ecosystem and aims to assist Purdue in its mission to become the #1 university in the nation for national security and defense. Our goal is to connect defense employers with our unique pool of defense-interested and defense-eligible students while providing our members with the information and tools needed to succeed in the Department of War and defense industry. We achieve this through a variety of technical projects that address real-world needs in the defense ecosystem, through aforementioned professional development events, and through a growing community of like-minded students.
