ABOUT SAM PETERSON

As a decades-long non-profit worker, I have worn more hats than I have in my winter wardrobe. I have been an executive assistant, a development director, I have consulted on media and graphics, and have trained probably a thousand individuals on a variety of topics. All of this experience has made me both incredibly adaptable and resilient, but also given me a three-dimensional lens to look at my work through. I see the big picture, I see the details, and I see the connecting threads holding the entire tapestry of an organization together. While that is not necessarily unique to me (non-profit employees often wear different hats), what is unique is that I am incredibly creative. I\'m a fine-artist, a writer, and a musician. I can\'t help but bring that brain to the office. It means I am a skip thinker, a color-outside-the-lines guy. As a queer transman I bring yet another skillset to the table. I understand first hand what intersectionality means, what poverty does, I understand code-switching and institutional queerphobia. I appreciate the qualities every community offers, in each of their full-throated, passionate, existences. That\'s what brings the heart, the joy, the determination, the ambition to my work.
