ABOUT SAM TAYLOR
For most of my career, I was the person asking for the data. Now I\'m the one building it.That shift changes how I approach data engineering. I\'ve sat on the other side of the table: as a Team Lead needing reliable KPIs; as a Quality Assurance Manager tracking quality trends; and as an Operations Analyst whose entire work depended on numbers I could trust. I know the frustration of a dashboard that answers the wrong question. I know what it costs a team when the data arrives too late, or worse, when nobody can agree on what it means. These experiences are now my greatest asset as a Data Engineer.Based in Berlin, I follow the data from source to decision: building reliable pipelines to extract and integrate diverse sources (Python); modelling and transforming business-critical metrics at the database layer (SQL, dbt, Databricks); and surfacing insights through a semantic layer (Looker). Context first, code second. It is what turns technically correct solutions into ones people actually rely on.What I bring:• : 9+ years in travel and customer service operations.• : Integrating diverse sources into clean and reliable pipelines.• : Building robust data models that ensure business-critical metrics are consistent and accurate.• : Modelling metrics and designing dashboards that ensure accuracy and adoption across teams.• : Bridging the gap between business requirements and technical solutions.• : Training teams to become independent users of data, to reduce dependency and accelerate
