About Samiya Rubaiya
Samiya Rubaiya is a freshman at Pitzer College intending to study International Political Economy and Minor in Middle Eastern Studies. Born and raised in Kensington, Brooklyn, she is passionate about global diplomacy, community engagement, and inclusive leadership.She recently interned on the Business Development team at Balyasny Asset Management through the ATLAS Fellows program, supporting Jules Biolsi. Previously, Samiya served as the Youth Intern Lead for NYC Council Women Shahana Hanif’s re-election campaign, managing canvassing, volunteer recruitment, and outreach. She also testified at a NYC City Council hearing on affordable housing and helped run the 14th Participatory Budgeting cycle in NYC’s District 39 and advocated for school improvement projects.Samiya has founded and fostered communities, organized cultural events, and led advocacy efforts including a citywide Palestinian Solidarity Statement. She was honored with a NYC City Council Proclamation in 2024 as Samiya’s work reflects her belief that meaningful change starts locally but resonates globally, driving her commitment to community-driven initiatives.She aspires to complete a Fulbright Fellowship and build cross-cultural dialogue through public policy and diplomacy.
