About Samirah Aziz
I am a third-year law student who is passionate about law, policy, and alternative dispute resolution. Given my strong Hudson Valley roots, I realized early on that advocacy can directly improve the quality of life. I then majored in Environmental Studies at Vassar College with a focus on how political and environmental science overlap. A summer internship at a N.Y. Assemblyman\'s office solidified my interest in the legal field. After graduating from college, I interned at the Center for Economic and Economic Partnership to gain real-world experience in renewable energy and community involvement. In law school, I have been learning the legal strategies behind strong advocacy. I aspire to use my legal knowledge to tackle the climate crisis and enhance overall well-being.In the past two semesters, I have used legal writing to identify legal concerns and raise potential solutions. So far, I have published pieces on statewide energy policies and federal pesticide disclosure preemption. My past classes, Land Law Use Law Center externship, and summer internships helped inform my legal research and writing. I look forward to further refining these skills this semester during an externship at the Pace Energy and Climate Center.Recently, I learned and practiced ADR in various spaces: a classroom, a clinic, and an internship. As with legal writing, ADR has inspired me to approach legal problems from unique angles. Further, it has reinforced the significance of strong interpersonal connections, which I have been cultivating as a law student mentor and the Co-Vice President of the Pace South Asian Law Student Association. I look forward to supporting ADR as an ACR-GNY Student Ambassador throughout my final semester of law school. Outside of law school, I love experimenting across art forms such as calligraphy and sustainable fashion. These fuel my artistic and intellectual curiosity while reminding me that creativity can thrive alongside logic.
