About Samir Karandikar
Samir has over thirty years of experience in running large, complicated projects in the hydrocarbon industry with multiple stakeholders. He has led project teams working on multi-billion dollar grassroots petrochemical, refining and specialty chemical projects through conception, Pre-FEED, FEED and EPC execution. He has successfully managed business acquisition process, early project planning, FEED, detailed engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases of the project. He has led multi-disciplinary teams of over 300 personnel strength located in multiple countries. His skillset includes project execution strategy, management of engineering stage development, technology risk assessment, risk assessment of cost estimates and schedules, planning and execution of cost estimates, financial evaluation of projects, and planning activities in Mega projects. He brings participative leadership style with strong business acumen and global orientation.

Samir leads the KBR team working on USD 6 Billion TIC Lobito Refinery Project which is in EPC phase. KBR was awarded a project management contract by Sonangol for the design and construction of a new bpd refinery in Lobito, Angola. Under the terms of the contract, KBR will provide services encompassing the project management of engineering, procurement and construction phase execution. Samir develops the strategy for deploying PMC team members in home offices in Houston and Chennai, EPC Contractor\'s offices in China, and at Lobito Angola Site. The Lobito Refinery Project is one of the most significant energy infrastructure projects in the region and will contribute to Angola’s energy independence. The project will also contribute to significant job creation and economic development of this region. Upon completing the Lobito Refinery Project, Angola is expected to have a 200% increase in the capacity to produce fuel products within the country in an efficient and sustainably improved approach.
