About Samir Bennis

Samir Bennis is a political analyst. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Provence in France. He also holds a Master’s degree in political science from the University of Toulouse I, a Master’s degree in Iberian studies from the University of Toulouse II, a Master’s degree in diplomatic studies from Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies in Paris and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish studies from the University of Fez. He pursued a post-doctoral research at the Diplomatic School of Madrid. He is a political analyst and researcher specializing in Morocco’s foreign policy. His publications focus in particular on the Sahara issue, relations between Morocco and Spain, Morocco’s foreign policy in Africa, as well as relations betweenMorocco and the United States. He has published over 300 articles in Arabic, French, English and Spanish. In addition to Morocco World News, his publications have appeared in Foreign Policy Magazine, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Al Jazeera, Al Jazeera Center for Strategic Studies, The New Arab, the Jerusalem Post, Jeune Afrique, El Español, La Razón, la Jornada, Medias24, Le360, Hespress, etc.He is the author of two books: Les Relations Politiques, Economiques et Culturelles Entre le Maroc et l’Espagne: 19••••05, which was published in French in 2008 and Le grand malentendu: l\'histoire d\'une relations tumultueuse entre le Maroc et l\'Espagne, publié en 2021. He also writes extensively on the issue of the Sahara, which constituted the focus of his PhD thesis.On May 30, 2011, he launched, along with his brother Adnane Bennis, Morocco World News. His media appearances include Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Jazeera English, Sky News Arabic, Al Hurra channel, National TV of Austria, TRT World, Moroccan TV channel Al Oula, Moroccan TV channel 2M and Medi1 TV, I24News, as well as a number of radio stations. He lectured in a number of Moroccan universities, such as Casablanca’s Hassan II University, Rabat’s Mohammed VI University, Meknes’ Moulay Ismail University, Fes’ Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University, among others. He lives in New York. He also lectured at Princeton University and Columbia University, George Washington University on the question of the Sahara and Morocco\'s foreign policy orientations. He was elected among \"20 Young Moroccan Leaders\" for 2014 by the Tarik Ibn Ziyad Initiative (TIZI Initiative).
