ABOUT SAMINA FARID
Samina Farid is a retired energy and technology entrepreneur in Houston and founder of Merrick, a global provider of software to the oil and gas industry. She is currently a Fellow in Harvard University’s Advanced Leadership Initiative program. Samina’s extensive experience in the energy industry spans over decades and includes managerial and executive positions with ESSO in Pakistan, HNG/Enron, Cabot Transmission and Brooklyn Interstate Natural Gas Company. In 1992, Samina founded Merrick, an innovative global technology company developing software that is used internationally and by over 50% of the wells in the US for more efficiently managing oil and gas production operations. Since selling Merrick to P2 Energy Solutions in December 2014, Samina serves as adviser to P2, consults, and mentors entrepreneurs and business professionals. She also serves on the boards of various nonprofit organizations including, among others, the Greater Houston Women\'s Chamber of Commerce, the Houston Independent School District’s Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy Foundation, and The Orange Show Center for Visionary Arts. Samina has been recognized by Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce as one of its “Breakthrough Women”, named among Houston’s “Most Influential Women” by Houston’s Women Magazine, listed by the National Diversity Council as one of the “Most Powerful and Influential Women in Texas”, and honored as “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Asian Chamber of Commerce. In 2018, Samina was induction into the Houston Women\'s Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame for her leadership and community efforts.
