About Sami Mohammed
Currently working as a Structural Engineer at Bensonwood Company where I contribute to design a sustainable and innovative building system collaboratively with an excellent quality control process while learning from industry experts. I strive to be a productive employee by completing the assigned tasks and helping the team to meet deadlines. I am well versed in design and analysis software such as Visual Analysis, RFEM, Enercalc as well as modeling software like Cadwork & Autodesk Suite. In the past, I have worked as a Structural E.I.T. under the guidance of an experienced Professional Engineer at Laguna Consulting Engineers where I assisted in the development and automation of structural analysis software for solar panels using Excel VBA. This improved my knowledge of building codes requirement and I gained a proficient understanding of structural requirements for solar panel design. Prior to that, I worked at 29E6, a structural consultant firm. During this time, I was responsible for performing various engineering tasks, project coordination, construction administration, drafting, and drawing management. I have worked on new and challenging commercial, residential, and hospital projects as well as restoration and repair projects with proven ability to meet deadlines. As a graduate student, I also worked as a research assistant in the civil engineering department at Clemson University, where I used SLOSH, MATLAB, Hadoop to develop a simulated storm surge hazard database. This database is used as the \"backbone\" for the model that could estimate future risks and losses due to storm surge to the infrastructure along the coast of the U.S. during Hurricane events. My research was an integration of discrete hurricane event simulations and visualizations which can further assist in the better mapping of critical infrastructure. I developed a visualization tool by incorporating python and ArcGIS to view storm surge and wind footprints, I created a GUI where a user can view risk associated to storm surge at any location of interest. I was involved in the development of storm surge return period maps and the probability of exceedance plots for over locations along the U.S. coast. I was able to publish my research work in the form of a thesis which has over 400 downloads.I always strive to bring 100% to the work I do. I am passionate about technology and food is my favorite thing to talk about.Competencies: Auto CAD, Cadwork 3D, Revit, ENERCALC, RISA 2D, ADCIRC, ArcGIS, HAZUS, MATLAB, MS Office, Pandas, Python, STAAD Pro, Spark, SQL, VBA
