About Samia Panni

Samia Panni\'s professional experience includes project management, editing & content management, music performance & education, media & community service, customer service and interpreter in Spanish & Portuguese. Currently Samia is employed by Foreign Language for Youth organization as a Spanish teacher, teaching to elementary level students at different schools. In 2016, Samia worked as English Editor for the GLOSS Project at the Defense Language Institute. Previously she worked for over three years with Adaquest Inc./ Elanex Inc. as Localization Project Manager for the International Production team at Microsoft Store. From 2004 to 2012, Samia worked with various teams at Micorsoft Corporation through Volt, VMC and Adaquest, Inc. as Latin American Technical Account Specialist, Business Solutions Specialist, Data Center Site Services Coordinator, Editorial Coordinator, and as Project Manager of the FWLinks project for the Windows International team. Samia performs as a vocalist, percussionist, band leader, producer, teacher and composer in global music, with an emphasis in Brazilian, African and other Latin American styles of music. She has taught Montessori aged children to adults since 1993, using a multi-disciplinary approach, and applying basic linguistics and ethnomusicology in her classes. She has been involved in community volunteer service via the media as a radio broadcaster since 1987. The program that she founded, Raízes on 91.3 KBCS-FM, explores the music and culture of Brazil. Through this exploration she tries to provide entertainment and cultural enrichment to her listeners. Her ultimate goal is to help build a bridge of understanding between people of different cultures via the dissemination of music. Samia has been sought after for her knowledge of Brazilian music as a lecturer at the UW World Music Series, the Seattle International Film Festival, Cornish Art Institute, Seattle University and University of Washington.
