ABOUT SAMI L. PLACER

As a dedicated, reliable perioperative services director with expertise in all systems operations, I execute high-level patient care and ensure the alignment of a company’s strategic vision and mission. Over the course of my career, I’ve distinguished myself as a trustworthy leader who creates supportive working environments, inspiring staff to make a positive impact in their communities. Currently, I serve as the senior system director of perioperative services at the Upper Allegheny Health System, where I manage daily operations for three sites—one surgery center and two hospital-based perioperative sites—across New York and Pennsylvania. Prior to this, I served as the director of surgical services at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, and as director of clinical education at the Upper Allegheny Health System. I’ve made countless significant contributions to these organizations’ success, including: • Increasing profitable surgeries, optimizing patient care, and reducing the cost of labor and supplies by closing an outdated, underperforming facility and consolidating multiple services. • Launching a new COVID-19 swab clinic at the Upper Allegheny Health System and increasing the facility’s valuable resources; serving as a liaison for the hospital and county emergency operation center for all COVID-19-related emergency surgeries. • Securing funding to install innovative simulation laboratories in two hospitals at the Upper Allegheny Health System; leveraged my background in strategic planning to oversee the design, development, and implementation of a Meditech patient care system for providers and staff. I’ve devoted my career thus far to ensuring patient satisfaction while maintaining medical centers’ value propositions. I’m eager to see where my professional life takes me in the future.
