It is such a joy to return to the Creative Writing Lab where I spent my childhood learning and growing - now as an Instructor. I lead weekly creative writing workshops for kids and teens based on Writopia Lab\'s mission statement of fostering joy, literacy and critical thinking. In workshops I employ a mix of creative writing games, individual writing time, and sharing to create an environment that is fun, collaborative, and exciting. I never want creative writing to feel like school. As I know from my own experience at Writopia, these workshops can be a place not just to write, but also to process life in real time. It is very important to me to cultivate a workshop environment where kids feel comfortable to explore what they need to explore in their writing, with me, and with the other writers.
