ABOUT SAM HICKLING

I am an Internet Networking Professional with extensive experience across fiber, mobile, subsea, peering, cloud computing and service delivery. As one of the early starters in Europe for Amazon, Google, Lumen and T-Mobile, I am used to dealing with rapid growth and a changing environment and I am proud to have improved resilience, latency and negotiated reduced costs per transaction in the backbone and peering networks for datacenters in a number of companies. My role at Amazon involved planning and procuring network solutions for new cities and backbone upgrades in EMEA securing significant savings and improving service levels through managing suppliers. more recently fiber delivery projects and Service Assurance. Key roles during my career have included: • Managing the service delivery group at Google. • Leading cross-organisational projects to improve processes for delivery and offshore outsourcing. • Building the FranceIX Internet Exchange. • Managing deployment teams. • Project managing changes to the GSM protocol to support GSM-R in the transport sector. Running bids, providing proposals, assessing any contractual risks and selling other consultants and services was something which I enjoyed and was successful at. During my time as a Principal Consultant with BT, I was frequently involved with business development activities at BT Consulting, often dealing with C-Level executives and was the representative on the Intelligent Transport Systems Forum If you would like to find out more about my experience please get in touch.
