About Samantha Gennuso
Hello! Among many things, I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and I work as a Therapist at Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services. My passion is serving as a guide through the process of change, recovery and embodying the moment to know peace. I am also an integrative recovery coach I found Well Gone Weird in 2013 and work privately with clients on issues of shame, self-discovery and recovery. My workshops focus on the intersection of psychology and traditional yogic teachings, Eastern philosophies of mindfulness, and utilizing guided embodiment meditation and collective healing interventions. During 2018 and 2019 I fulfilled the role of Graduate Psychology Program Coordinator at Antioch University Los Angeles, where I also earned my master\'s in clinical psychology. I am pursuing a Marriage and Family Therapy license. I have worked as an MFT Trainee at Southern California Counseling Center, as well as in their satellite Watts locations working with underserved clients. I have interned at Cosmopolitan, SPIN and Rolling Stone magazines as an undergraduate. My own discoveries about the mind-body connection led to becoming a certified Health Coach (Institute for Integrative Nutrition), an energy healing practitioner, and formally trained in Bhakti yoga. I hold masters\' degrees in Clinical Psychology (M.A.) and Mass Communication (M.S. from Boston University), and a B.A. in Journalism (NYU). All of this experience informs my values and my work with clients today, lending to the ultimate goal of freedom and liberation for us all, starting in the mind. GOOD TO KNOW: Sam is a person who stutters and uses her experience with this disability to address issues of shame and otherness, facilitating deep recovery on both clinical and holistic levels. She has served on the board of the National Stuttering Association and has been publicly speaking and advocating for herself and others who stutter for 16 years.
