About Sam Fossa

I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I concentrated my studies in energy resources, with interest in renewable energy and sustainability, along with design work. I am looking for work opportunities to continue my engineering education.So far in my academic and professional career I have enjoyed creating solutions to problems and proving what I am capable of. I enjoy being a constructive teammate, with experiences working with others on numerous student project teams, as a captain on the Cal Poly Men\'s Ultimate Frisbee Club, and as a good employee in my previous workplaces.I am also someone who enjoys hands-on experience. I enjoyed time on the Cal Poly Racing Baja Team working with lathes, mills, and other machines. I took advantage of the \"learn by doing\" approach at Cal Poly with the lab experiences that reinforced my lectures, both using computer-based models and physical testing. I got the opportunity to work with Ivan Perrin of SmartBoat to help improve his \"Colorado\" fly fishing boat for my senior project, where I worked with my team to construct physical portions of the boat to complete testing.I am someone who strives to improve and face challenges. I love learning new skills and information, and am looking for a career to continue that pursuit. My active hobbies such as backpacking and surfing put me in new and stimulating situations that I get to learn and grow from.
