ABOUT SAM FENTON
Dr Sam Fenton BSc(Hons) BVetMed PGDipVCP AFHEA MRCVSEarly-career Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for ECC and Veterinary Education.As a dedicated and passionate veterinary surgeon, I am committed to delivering the highest standard of care for my patients and their owners. I am a strong believer in the importance of contextualised care, working within my clients’ resources to provide the best possible care for their pets. I enjoy all areas of veterinary medicine, and am particularly captivated by the multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to patient care. I have many interests within the veterinary field, however my ultimate goal is to pursue residency training in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care. After two years of experience practicing in a busy RCVS accredited 24 hour hospital, I completed a rotating internship at the Royal Veterinary College’s Queen Mother Hospital for Small Animals to further my understanding of referral-level veterinary practice and develop my knowledge and practical skills. Whilst working in general practice I was also able to pick up locum shifts in multiple emergency out-of-hours clinics and experienced a wide array of emergent presentations. Following my rotating internship, I am now undertaking a discipline-specific internship in Emergency and Critical Care at DWR Veterinary Specialists. Whilst studying for my veterinary medicine degree I completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Comparative Pathology, for which I was awarded First Class Honours. I also had several part time jobs throughout my education and I served as Vice President Treasurer, and subsequently President of the Royal Veterinary College Students’ Union. I am a highly-motivated and enthusiastic individual with a commitment to lifelong learning and have completed the RCVS Veterinary Graduate Development Programme (VetGDP).Outside of work, I have a passion for musical theatre and enjoyed taking part in amateur theatre productions and serving on the committee of the RVC Performing Arts Society whilst at university.
