SAMEE was established in 2015, with Charity status gained in 2016, to support disabled and neurodivergent people wanting to explore self-employment as an alternative to traditional employment. By teaching and sharing valuable self-employment and holistic skills, through a unique mix of peer mentoring and personal guidance, we have supported many disabled participants into successfully starting a self-employed role. Our Vision: Every disabled person can access the self-employment and holistic support they require to meet their individual needs through the co-creation of activities and bespoke resources.Our Ethos: The SAMEE team believe that every disabled person accessing our services deserves to lead a fulfilling life and achieve success on a journey that is as unique as they are.Our Mission: To influence societal change through mentoring, advocacy and best practice, alongside innovative programme co-creation, development and delivery, enabling disabled people to access self-employment support to positively impact the reduction of the disability employment gap.

ABOUT SAMMY EVERARD
I read these Linked-In bios with interest - the amazing things that people have achieved … and I often wonder if I am good enough. Yes, I am a SFEDI Level 7 qualified business mentor and have worked within the world of disability and self-employment for over 25 years but does that make me an expert in the field? Probably not! What it makes me is someone that enjoys working within the disabled community, sharing best practice with others and helping to raise the aspirations of those disabled and neurodivergent people wanting to explore self-employment.I have had the pleasure of mentoring many disabled and neurodivergent people over the years, as well as self-employment practitioners wanting to learn more about disability, and the thing I have enjoyed most is learning from others. Having the opportunity to find about the daily challenges disabled and neurodivergent people face, and how they overcome them, has led me to a PhD journey of discovery with the Centre of Seldom Heard Voices at Bournemouth University… which is still ongoing!I founded the award winning SAMEE charity in 2016 and currently lead as their CEO. Our charity supports disabled and neurodivergent people wanting to explore self-employment through a number of co-created and co-designed projects. Each disabled and neurodivergent person brings a new idea, a new resource or a new opportunity and, as a team, we embrace them all. Having the input from the disabled and neurodivergent communities means that our work is fully inclusive, accessible and meaningful, giving us the opportunity to learn new skills and co-develop ideas to support others.As well as leading SAMEE, I have my own consultancy, Celtrose, working with practitioners who wish to learn more about disability and how they can improve their best practice. The programmes Celtrose offers have been CPD accredited, which makes me very proud.My final note is to say that SAMEE has won an international Zero Award in 2025 for our co-designed Supported Self-Employment Internship! Having the opportunity to personally go to Vienna was a great honour as we shared how we have achieved creating the UK’s first supported internship for self-employment… make sure you follow our progress :)
