Four days a week, I dive into the digital world of Canada Life, helping turn manual processes into smooth, customer-friendly digital experiences. Over the past year, I’ve been working closely with the Digital Platforms team, rewriting old journeys, transforming paper-heavy forms into slick online versions, and making sure everything not only works—but actually feels good to use.These days, I’m also getting hands-on with GenAI and a bit of code-driven prototyping, building interactive concepts faster and testing ideas before they hit full development. It’s all about speeding up design cycles and proving what “good” looks like before we commit to it.My work touches everything from:Digging through analytics and customer insights to find journey improvements.Collaborating with stakeholders to align design strategies and keep projects moving.Evolving our design system to keep the experience consistent and dev work faster.Testing, breaking, and refining features until they work beautifully on every screen.If it’s old, slow, or manual, I’m probably somewhere in the process of giving it a 2030s makeover.

Hey, I’m Sam — a tech-minded builder who still cares deeply about how things look and feel. I’m spinning a few plates at the moment (none of them dropped… yet ). One of them is QuantumEye, where we’re training AI to spot shoplifters and helping shops stay one step ahead — think face detection, real-time video, edge devices, and the occasional cable that shouldn’t be doing what it’s doing (but somehow is).I’ve got a background in design but usually end up buried in the logic, the stack, or asking far too many questions about how things actually work.
