ABOUT SAMER MUSALLAM

Proven counselor, litigator and leader of investigation and litigation teams with more than 15 years of experience focused on achieving winning results. Prior to joining the partnership at Ropes & Gray LLP, I was a Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General at the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice, and a Trial Attorney before that in the Defense, Industrials, and Aerospace Section. As a Trial Attorney, I investigated mergers before the Antitrust Division and was trial counsel in a number of high profile cases brought by the Antitrust Division during the Obama and Trump administrations, including serving as lead counsel in the Antitrust Division\'s first arbitration of a merger challenge. Prior to joining the DOJ, I was in private practice representing clients in complex private antitrust litigation and at trial in price‑fixing class actions, merger clearances, and domestic and international antitrust investigations. My experiences cover a wide range of industries, including medical devices, wireless baseband chips, mining and material handling equipment, diesel engines, banking, waste management services, malt beverages, scrap metal, airlines, health insurance, telecommunications, fintech and the locomotive and railroad industries. For a representative list of matters during my time at the Antitrust Division and in private practice, please visit: expressed are personal and do not represent those of Ropes & Gray LLP.
