Burnaby Refinery is a bbl/day facility established in 1935. It was formerly operated by Chevron Corporation and was acquired by Parkland in 2017.Responsibilities:Ensure technical support needs are met for the following process units; Crude Distillation (Atmospheric and Vacuum), Jet Merox, Isomerization (Penex), and Gasoline Hydrotreater.Monitor the health of process units on a short- and long-term basis, issuing health check reports quarterly, post turnaround, and startup to aid in maintenance planning, supply model updates, and risk identification for operations and HSE. Specify the scope of process engineering turnaround (TAR) and maintenance events, and perform process-driven field inspections for columns, vessels, reactors, catalyst replacement, and heat exchangers during the TAR/maintenance execution phase.Developed unit monitoring dashboards, startup, and shutdown monitoring tools on SEEQ software as part of Refinery-wide SEEQ tool rollout.Participate in unit process hazard analysis (HAZOP/LOPA, What-If) regarding day-to-day troubleshooting, optimization, and operations.Drive management of change through simple/standard MOC by completing assigned process evaluations and action items.Lead incident investigations by conducting root causes analysis (RCA) and recommend solutions for events with business impacts of up to $ 10MM. Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with various Refinery teams to steward the change.Conduct plant test runs, de-bottlenecking, troubleshooting during plant upsets, and process support to operations during startup/shutdown.Define and manage alarms and excursions such as integrity operating windows (IOWs) and Safe Operating Limits (SOLs).
