Direct COO report at Executive level. Responsible for a wide portfolio incorporating strategic planning, business intelligence, market insight, strategic projects, and faculty operations.£4m budget; approx. 130 total reports- Brought together three existing functions into a new portfolio, leveraging value from shared objectives and building a more integrated approach to planning and strategic development- Leadership of strategic planning and business intelligence function, including leading a review of the function to develop this as a strategic capability- Implemented a new approach to student number planning and forecasting, leading to a realistic budget despite significant volatility- Sponsored a large-scale \'Data Academy\' for University staff, with over 40 colleagues signed up to undertake apprenticeships in the first cohort- Oversight of our portfolio of strategic projects, including digital transformation (e.g. ERP implementation), brand & identity and complex research projects- Chaired the Project Group undertaking change to Faculty and School structures and their associated professional services - including the management of large-scale and complex people changes- Alongside the Dean, led the transformation of the Business School to become a freestanding, semi-autonomous unit- Use of strategic insight to identify opportunities for growth and areas for divestment- Leadership of and contribution to cross-university initiatives and projects - including data strategy, student growth, and information governance- Deputise for the Chief Operating Officer as requested.

ABOUT SAM BAYLEY
I am a Higher Education senior leader at Executive Director level, with a record of delivering transformational change. I have experience at Board and governance levels, having held non-executive Trustee roles both at the University of York and the Association of Higher Education Professionals, as well as a local branch of the RSPCA. I am the Chair of a cooperative society of over members. I have experience in turning around underperforming units through empowering high-performing professional services teams; as well as leading institution-level change. My current responsibilities include executive leadership of strategic planning and strategy, business intelligence, strategic projects and faculty operations.
