ABOUT SAMARA FISCHER
Like many others, I fell into the People industry.Originally from Canberra, Australia I studied International Relations and then a Master of International Law. As many Canberrans do, I fully intended to join the public service and work in policy. However, as often happens, life led me down a different path.My early professional endeavors encompassed a variety of roles in the not for profit and government sectors- I worked for a peak body writing policy submission to government, I ran governance training for small not-for-profits, I worked on a national health promotion campaign aimed at increasing the life expectancy for Aboriginal people in Australia, I worked as a teacher in Thailand and as a crisis worker for a domestic violence crisis service. I was both ambitious and restless. Work was intercepted by as much travel as possible. I fell into resourcing when I moved to New Zealand where I discovered that my previous experience could translate into building capability for organisations by delivering strong recruitment outcomes. During my recruitment years, I recruited fundraisers for the NFP sector, sourced and placed skill volunteers for international development projects in the Pacific, and worked with intergovernmental organisations such as the UN and the WHO to find and develop their best talent. From 20••••25 I ran the Early in Careers recruitment programmes for MFAT. Recently, I leveraged off my previous experience and stepped into the exciting world of remuneration and rewards- a natural extension of my passion for people-centric work grounded in my long-held belief that good strategic outcomes begin with people and how we value them.I\'m keen to connect with organisations to understand their remuneration and reward challenges.
