ABOUT SAMANTHA TY COSGROVE
I have been working at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for 5+ years. I currently work as a Supervisory Public Health Advisor in the National Center for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Public Health Infrastructure and Workforce in the Division of Workforce Development. Previously, I was a Project Officer at the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) for the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program where I provided technical assistance for 10 state and local health department recipients for their federally funded 5-year cooperative agreements. My first role at CDC was working as a Public Health Associate in HIV Prevention with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) in which I provided technical assistance and quality assurance checks to 60+ agencies in North Carolina as a Rapid Testing Monitor. I have experience in the federal COVID-19 response as a Pharmacy Partnerships Coordinator/Data Analyst for the Vaccine Task Force, Operations Coordinator for the STLT Support Task Force, and Lead Escalation Manager for the HSWS Task Force. I also have experience interacting with local policy change in public health, field work abroad (Zambia, China, Honduras), health education, international education, career counseling, grant reviewing, data analysis, administrative and clerical work, and qualitative research methods. I have interests in infectious disease epidemiology, public health leadership, global health, and the intersection of social science and medicine. I pursued a BA in Global Studies, concentrating in Global Health, with minors in Public Policy and Medical Anthropology.
