ABOUT SAMANTHA VERRELLI

I\'m a 2024 Penn State graduate with B.A. degrees in Journalism and Spanish. I wrote for The Daily Collegian for nine semesters, initially as a news reporter, and later as a reporter on the Features and Investigation staff. I have also been a part of the page design team for The Daily Collegian and a member of the social media team, where I created promos for Facebook and Twitter to increase readership. Outside of my experience at The Daily Collegian, I was a studio crew member at Penn State Network News, where I help control various aspects of production, both in the control room and in the studio during live newscasts. Professionally, I\'ve been published multiple times in PennLive and completed an investigative internship with their public safety team, where I looked into understaffing issues in a local state prison. Through these experiences, I\'ve learned skills in: InDesign, writing in AP style, interviewing and sourcing, data work, conducting investigative research, and pitching stories with deadlines to follow. I plan on continuing investigative reporting in my future career, starting at Cardinal News this summer as a Regional Reporter in Roanoke, Virginia.
