Upon successful completion of the summer, the Camp Director asked me to join the year round team to support in the completion of off-season duties as staffing changes were made within the organization. In addition to my summertime responsibilities, the main additional responsibility was rewriting official documentation to match and support American Camp Association guidelines. As an accredited camp, Trailside Discovery Camp maintains high standards that follows ACA regulations, and all of our internal and external paperwork needed to be updated to ensure new policies are being enforced. Additionally, I was responsible for contributing to staff hiring for the summer, and conducted over 30 interviews to help build out a robust and talented summer staff team. Once the summer season began, I returned to performing my main duties as Camp Administrator as outlined (in addition to the responsibilities I have taken on since).

ABOUT SAMANTHA SELTZER
Cognitive Science graduate with a lifelong passion for language acquisition and language learning. A seasoned summer camp professional, I am now working full-time at Trybal Gatherings as the Program Manager, helping to build and execute our summer camps and immersive experiences for Jewish young adults in their 20s and 30s. Following a senior thesis project in the Language Acquisition and Development Research Lab at Barnard College/Columbia University, I am now also continuing on the side to pursue this project and others as a research assistant in the lab.
