ABOUT SAM PHO

I bring over 7 years of combined experience as a Product Manager and Electrical Engineer, previously having experience in B2B and B2C companies in eReading, AEC, Construction, Real Estate planning and Healthcare industries - I am always open to learning new things and new industries!‍ I spent 4+ years in Electrical Engineering, where my interest in tech and product began with developing automation plug-in tools for 3D modelling software. It was then that I developed a curiousity for leveraging technology tools, and decided to pivot into Product Management. In my recent role as a Product Manager at Rakuten Kobo, a B2C eCommerce and digital reading company (eBooks, audiobooks, digital reading and unlimited reading subscriptions), I have proven my ability to ramp up quickly on several teams and dive deep into understanding a new industry. I have leveraged product data and analytics, user interviews and market research to make data-driven decisions and propose roadmaps that will drive customer and business impact. As a previous Product Manager at BuildOps, a cloud-based, field service management software startup, I showcased my ability to win new industries by leveraging market research, customer feedback, stakeholder buy-in, tradeoffs and data-driven decisions. I owned the development and launch of a cross-platform MVP within 6 months, becoming the subject matter expert quickly, delivering high-impact features to win a new industry. 🤓 I have developed strong technical and analytical skills from my Electrical Engineering degree, from previous technical roles and from my passion for continuous learning. As a PM, I constantly leverage my technical skills through developing trusting relationships with engineers and engaging in technical conversations. Recently I completed Harvard\'s Intro to Computer Science course and currently completing Duke University\'s AI Product Management course. I am passionate about learning new technologies, industries, and skills, and am excited about new opportunities and challenges that will help me continue to grow as a dynamic and innovative Product Manager.
