Administrative CourtPresides in cases regarding violations of traffic laws and other minor offenses. These violations are considered “infractions” which includes violations such as speeding, automobile equipment needing repair, and expired licenses. Accepts guilty pleas and admissions of responsibility and enters judgment for certain infractions.Conducts DWI revocation hearings held to determine whether or not a revocation of a license should be rescinded. The Attorney General is notified of the hearing and given an opportunity to appear.Conducts arraignment hearings for misdemeanors ranging from class 3 to class A1. Accepts guilty pleas and admissions of responsibility and enters judgment for class three misdemeanors. Conducts appointment of counsel hearings in criminal misdemeanor cases. Provides punishment for direct criminal contempt.Involuntary Commitment CourtConducts hearings for the purpose of determining whether or not a person should be evaluated for an involuntary commitment. Issues or denies custody orders accordingly.Wedding CeremoniesOfficiates wedding ceremonies which results in marriage. Marriage creates many legal rights and obligations, including in the areas of property, financial obligations, inheritance, taxes, and more.
