As Sustainability Manager at Tennant Company, I lead the implementation of our sustainability and environmental, social, and governance strategy. My work focuses on embedding sustainability into our operations, with a particular emphasis on advancing our net-zero ambitions. I collaborate closely with our global facilities and operations teams to identify and execute decarbonization initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint while supporting business performance. In addition to environmental initiatives, I lead Tennant’s social impact efforts, including our corporate giving initiatives. I work to ensure our philanthropic investments reflect our values and create meaningful impact for the communities where we live and work.I also oversee the company’s annual sustainability reporting and ESG disclosures, ensuring alignment with both voluntary frameworks and emerging regulatory requirements. This includes managing the collection and governance of sustainability data and driving transparency in our communications with stakeholders. At Tennant, stewardship is more than a principle. It’s a commitment to creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier world. I’m proud to help carry that legacy forward through work that connects purpose with performance.

ABOUT SAMANTHA MCKEOUGH

Throughout my childhood, I spent most of my weekends at my family’s cottage on Bass Lake, a pristine spring-fed lake in northern Wisconsin. I spent time swimming until my lips turned blue, fishing, and canoeing and this laid the foundation for my appreciation and respect for the natural world. This later transformed into a passion. In my years at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, I learned more about the pressing environmental issues we are facing today – climate change, the rapid rate of species extinction, and the mass destruction of our precious resources. Also during my time as an undergraduate student, I sought out opportunities to channel this passion into action which ultimately steered me in the direction of a career as a sustainability professional. In the roles I’ve had this far, I have seen first-hand the importance of meeting people where they are, getting to know them, and to understand what motivates them. I find joy in bringing everyone together to work on solutions that have a positive impact on the triple bottom line: people, planet, and prosperity.I am: Passionate and pragmatic; Adaptable and analytical;Optimistic and organized. The topic areas of my expertise include: sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures, strategy development and implementation, waste reduction and management, energy benchmarking, environmentally preferred purchasing, stakeholder engagement, sustainable transportation, greenhouse gas emissions calculations, climate and health.
