ABOUT SAMANTHA MCDONALD

A determined and experienced researcher with the drive to succeed looking for a career within the clinical trials and pharmaceutical industry. I am currently undergoing my BBSRC funded PhD doctoral training programme in Neuroinflammation. My PhD has given me a vast amount of experience outside of research as well as offering a range of skills required in a fast paced work environment. This has included the ability to self-manage, communicate with different audiences, reach competing demands and meet frequent deadlines while being sure to maintain scientific integrity.I am ready for a new challenge in a stimulating and client focused environment. I have been a STEM Ambassador for 2 years now, helping to engage and motivate young people about STEM using interactive and creative communication.Technical skills involves:• Wide range of in vivo skills such as mouse stroke model, stereotaxic surgery and behaviour work• Multi-disciplinary project involved learning techniques and concepts in engineering in microfluidic devices• In vitro skills including primary cell culture of several different cell types including stem cells, western blotting, FACS analysis, tissue histology, and PCR.• Successfully completed module 1 in sysMIC, an online course that aims to develop participant’s maths and computing skills.
